For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,
says the Lord; thoughts of peace, and not of bad,
to provide you to with a good and happy ending.

It's been said that failure isn't final...
I believe it to be true. In years past, I failed my friends and family, and society as well. I'm sure it wasn't God's plan for me to come to prison or for innocent lives to be lost. This was, I believe, the devil's plan, although I could not see or understand this until many years later.
God's plans are always good. Many passages in the Bible attest to this, the most noteworthy one being John 3:16. "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but shall have the gift of eternal life."
God loves humankind. He created us for a purpose, and He wants us to be with Him in heaven, forever. It's the devil, rather, who wants to see as many as possible lose their souls and end up in hell.
When I first came to prison, I thought, "This is it. My life is over." I was depressed and suicidal. Facing decades of incarceration, it felt as if all hope was lost. But little did I know, God had a plan to redeem me. He had a good purpose designed for my life. Even now, although I remain in prison, His desires for me are coming to pass.
For more than thirty years, I have been proclaiming God's kindness and mercy to whomever I can. Being shut in behind prison walls makes it more challenging, but I know that with the Lord all things are possible.
The same is true for everyone who places their faith in Jesus. Failure isn't final. For me, it is only another steppingstone to victory.
I once heard a preacher on the radio say, "Don't let the past keep you from your future." To this, I would add a big "Amen!"
