You are the light of the world. A city
that is set on a hill cannot be hid.
Matthew 5:14
Those who have placed their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ...
that is set on a hill cannot be hid.
Matthew 5:14
Those who have placed their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ...
...are now living trophies of His abundant love, mercy and grace. Jesus saved us from our sins, not only because He loves us, but He also wants to show the world His ability to rescue and redeem lives from the effects of sin, and the terrible destruction it brings. As the Scripture declares, "Sin, when it has run its course, brings forth death" (James 1:15).
In prison, I have learned the value of an honest testimony. I've had those who were noted gang members, or who practiced a different faith, privately come to me asking for prayer for a loved one. I have also learned that no matter how outwardly hard and tough a man tries to make himself appear to his peers, he still has a soft spot for his mother and father, his grandparents, and his wife and children.
I will oftentimes remind my fellow prisoners who are following Christ, that our individual stories of redemption are important to Him. He doesn't value one man's salvation experience above another's. Also, that if we represent the Lord properly giving honor and respect to Him through how we are living our lives today, we can help our fellow prisoners leave crime and evil behind them. We can lead them to the King of all lights, where they can receive forgiveness for their sinful acts and destructive wrongdoings.
This is what being a living light for Jesus is all about. I'm to be a beacon of hope and change for a lost generation who are trying to find their respective places in a very broken and troubled world.
