For they are a nation void of counsel, neither
is there any understanding in them.
Deuteronomy 32:28
In the Scriptures, God warns the nations not to forget His commandments…
is there any understanding in them.
Deuteronomy 32:28
In the Scriptures, God warns the nations not to forget His commandments…
His words are important, and they are for our benefit. His decrees and commandments are not meant to restrict us, but to guide and direct our path so that we might enjoy peace and prosperity, and that our allotted time on earth would be joyful, satisfying, and productive.
But at the opposite end, any nation which scoffs at and ignores God's words and instructions will be met with misery. Not because God is unmerciful, but because they have rebelled against Him. They've chosen to go their own way, ultimately bringing forth destruction upon themselves.
But what about the United States of America? Which path have we collectively chosen for ourselves? God's guidance? Or have we determined to chart our own course? I would like my readers to think about this, especially in light of the times we're now living in.
A recent headline in the USA TODAY newspaper declared, "2020 AN AMERICAN NIGHTMARE." The article stated that many Americans are now experiencing "disaster fatigue" as they "strain to deal with stressful events." Many, it said, "are vacillating between horror and disbelief at what can only be described as an American nightmare."
America is now dealing with a global pandemic, storms and hurricanes in the South, huge wildfires in the West, racial and social unrest, lawlessness and looting, economic woes from layoffs and businesses closing their doors, political differences that spill over into anger, and surging gun violence in some cities, plus more.
The Bible declares that any nation that forgets God and spurns His words of advice, will ultimately bring destruction upon themselves because man without God is incapable of good self-government. The "sin nature" that's always at work within the hearts of fallen humanity will always steer us downward. I believe this to be true.
America needs the Lord. We need to turn to Him now. The same is true for every nation on the planet. Today is the day of salvation for both individuals, as well as for the United States, and the entire world.
