For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the
end it shall speak, and not lie; though it tarry, wait for
it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

Habakkuk 2:3
Today at sundown marks the start of the season known by Jews throughout the world as the High Holy Days...
It’s when Jewish people celebrate their new year, which is called Rosh Hashanah. For me, it’s a time for deep introspection and soul-searching, and for taking an inventory of my spiritual life. It’s also a time when Jews seek God’s forgiveness, as well as His blessings for the year to come.
Although I am not particularly religious when it comes to holidays and traditions, I do appreciate the spiritual aspects to the High Holy Days.
But today as I read the book of Habakkuk the prophet, I found myself once again lamenting to the Lord that I feel as if I am living in an almost lifeless desert, which I also feel as if I’ve been in for far too long. That certain things I had hoped for and waited for, have yet to fully materialize. However, God’s comforting response to my cries is to keep waiting by faith.
As I mentioned in an earlier journal entry this month, waiting is the hardest part. Yet in the end, I’m certain it will be worth the wait.
