Not all that much has changed since Christ uttered these words some two thousand years ago...
This, I believe, is because people are the same. The times may have changed, but people have not. Besides, history has a way of repeating itself.
So the agitated crowd, probably at the manipulations of a handful of ringleaders, convinced the crowd to pick up stones, that the Lord deserved to die.
But as they were getting ready to splatter the Lord’s brains all over, He asked them, “I’ve done so many good deeds for you. You’ve witnessed my miracles and healings. So why do you want to kill Me?”
I don’t think it’s all that different today. Jesus told His followers, “If the world hates you, you know it hated Me before it hated you... If they persecuted Me, they will persecute you, too” (John 15:18-20).
It’s good for the Christian to keep this in mind.
