But they that wait upon the Lord
shall renew their strength...

Isaiah 40:31a
It was my turn today to oversee and direct our weekly Sunday afternoon service...
It’s an assignment I share with two other men.
Basically what this consists of is my beginning the worship service by greeting and welcoming everyone in attendance. I always want to make everyone, both our guest ministers and the inmates, feel welcome.
After my brief introduction and the reading of a passage from the Bible, I will ask another man to come forward and lead the church in a word of prayer. Next, I will introduce the choir. When they’re done, I will then ask one of the men to give us a short exhortation from the Scriptures.
After this, I will introduce the main speaker. Today we happened ta have two speakers, a husband and wife who’ve been coming to Shawangunk for many years to encourage us and show the men the love of God.
Following their respective messages, I introduced our chaplain, who then spoke for a while. Afterwards, I closed the service with a prayer. I then dismissed everyone, giving ample time for our chaplain and guests and the men to converse and fellowship together until it was time for everyone to leave, our guests to their home, and the men to our respective cell blocks.
