I'm continuing to answer my correspondence as time permits...
I have friends who write regularly, and some every now and then. Many of these I've known for years, while a number of first time writers have reached out to me after seeing the media coverage about the fortieth anniversary of my arrest.
What amazes me the most, however, is the number of letters I've been getting from hurting and troubled individuals who felt compelled to communicate with me after watching last month's interview with CBS.
Frankly, I'm getting more correspondence than I could handle. I have full-time work at the prison, plus chapel services, Bible studies, and daily chores too. I never encourage people to write, but my heart goes out to those who are in pain, and those who say they are suffering from various addictions, depression, and are bound by sins of all kinds.
I truly pity those who are in various spiritual and mental bondage, some even under degrees of demonic affliction too. I'm praying for them, and will try to reply to as many as I can. But it is all quite overwhelming. I need the strength and wisdom of the Lord.
Sad to say, but it's true, that there are millions of people who, while not confined to prisons of concrete and steel like I am, are confined to invisible yet very real prisons of the mind.
