One good thing about being afforded the opportunity to share my journal online is that I am able to discuss various matters and address different issues when I feel the need to do so...
And this brings me to the matter of so-called "Son of Sam" items, and alleged items, that supposedly come up on occasion for sale, much of this on the Internet.
I am writing about it, now because of a recent letter I received from a man in Texas. In his letter, he wrote the following:
"Mr. Berkowitz... I have read several articles about you.
I was wondering how much you would charge to make a
necklace? Also, please advise how I would get the money
to you? Or a painting, whichever you can do..."
I might average about a dozen of these kinds of letters each year. I discard them and never reply. Why? Because I do not have anything for sale, and I have never had anything for sale and for personal profit. God forbid!
I don't do artwork. I have absolutely no artistic talent and can neither draw nor paint. I do not make cards or jewelry. I would never do anything like this, as it is against my own principles. Yes, even though I am a convicted felon and am in prison for very serious crimes, which I deeply regret, there are certain things I would never do. Selling crime-related and personal items is one of them.
More tomorrow.
