I am looking forward to cooler temperatures and lowering levels of humidity now that summer is on its way out...
It was a summer with record-breaking temperatures as well.
And now that it's been cooling off, I have been going outdoors more often. I can stay outside until 10 o'clock, if I want to. Sometimes I will walk or exercise by myself. While other times I will be with a friend.
I've met some interesting individuals, too. Two are orthodox Jews and another is a Muslim from Turkey. All three are very friendly. And there are several men who belong to the church, and who live in the same cell block as me. However, none of them seem to be interested in working out. So when they do come outdoors, which isn't very often, we'd walk around for a little while, and talk. That's about it.
Thus far, I've yet to meet someone I could get close to, like in the biblical story of David and Jonathan. In the Bible, David, who was yet to be king, and Jonathan, the son of then King Saul, were inseparable companions. It was a classic tale of friendship, trustworthiness and loyalty.
While I was at Sullivan, I had friends like this, but not here at Shawangunk. At least not yet, but hopefully one day.
