Today at sundown begins the Jewish New Year known as Rosh Hashanah...
It's also known as the "Feast of Trumpets." For many Jews, it marks a time for an awareness of one's sins with a desire to repent of them and ask God for forgiveness.
Personally, I am not in agreement with this, as there is nothing in the Old Testament to indicate that God gives special graces because it's the start of a new year. Instead, I am of the belief that one's sins can only be forgiven once he places his faith in the Lord Jesus (Yeshua), and on His finished work on the cross.
In any event, Rosh Hashanah is still a very special time for me, as it reminds me of a day when the Lord Jesus will call His children home. At a future time the trumpet of God will sound, and according to the Scriptures, those who have already placed their faith in Jesus will be caught up into the clouds, and will forever be with the Lord. It will be a glorious day, and it will surely come.
