I continue to see more evidence of how the Lord seems to be touching the lives of the men in my church's fellowship in fresh and wonderful ways...
As I mentioned recently, the worship services in the chapel have been more lively than they've been in a long time, more energized.
Of course, this in and of itself may not necessarily mean much because one could say it is nothing more than emotions being stirred. True. But this appears to be much different, as there is not only an inner excitement bubbling within many of them, but a sense of joy coming up from deep within their souls; I can see the difference.
While another element to this is the recent additions to our little flock of four young men from Mexico. In a strange irony, not only are all four "on fire" for Jesus, but none of them knew each other before coming to prison. Nor did they know each other from another prison. Rather, they all got "saved" at different times in separate facilities. Then, arriving here at Sullivan Correctional Facility, they met for the first time.
And because almost every time I see them, they're smiling, I've nicknamed them, "The Smiling Mexicans." They also know that I enjoy being around them, and that I love them as my brothers in Christ. They've also shown themselves to be hard workers at their respective jobs.
I pray God sends more smiling Christians to this prison. We need all the joy we can get.
