Blessed be God, even the Father of
our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of
mercies, and the God of all comfort.

Thanks be to God...

2 Corinthians 1:3
Thanks be to God...
Within the past week, I was able to comfort a handful of men who have been in deep distress of soul.
In prison there ls always a need for words of encouragement, comfort and hope. But this has been especially true of late. As one man had a death in his family, while several others have been battling serious sickness. While a few others have been struggling with depression.
So it was a privilege for me, a man who has his own personal problems and challenges to deal with each day, to be allowed, by God's grace, to bring them words from the Scriptures, especially in their times of need.
For the Christian, being able to speak God's word, not in a mystical or know-it-all way, but with gentleness and neighborly love, is a God-given right. Every Christian should be doing this. We're to give comfort to those who are hurting, and we're to try our best to help those who are oppressed. After all, the child of God has the words of life. We're to comfort others with the same comfort we ourselves received from the Lord.
Amen!
