I will bless the Lord at all times; His
praise shall continually be in my mouth.
Psalm 34:1
Earlier this afternoon, I praised God for His kindness and goodness...
praise shall continually be in my mouth.
Psalm 34:1
Earlier this afternoon, I praised God for His kindness and goodness...
I spent time in worshiping the Lord with a heart of thanksgiving.
At approximately 12:45, three volunteer lay ministers arrived at the prison's chapel. They're from a church in Westchester County, and they're permitted to visit with us every third Saturday afternoon of each month.
One of our visitors, brother Isidore, started the service with an opening prayer. Then the worship leader of the trio, sister Sonya, began to sing. As is our custom, those of us who wanted to, joined in with her. Sonya sang one song after another, some in English and other songs in Spanish. And through all this worship and praise, the Holy Spirit began to stir our hearts even more. An hour went by, then another hour. We continued to clap our hands, sing and worship. We lost all track of time, too.
It was nothing wild or crazy. Our chapel services are always orderly. However, for some reason, we wanted to keep singing to the Lord with exuberant praise. Then, as suddenly as the singing started, it stopped. There was still enough time remaining for the message, and the third member of the group, brother Arroyo, spoke on God's faithfulness to bring His children through all the storms that each of us may encounter in life.
Finally, as our time together came to a close, I left the chapel feeling rejuvenated and refreshed, which was something I haven't experienced for a while. It was good to bless the Lord with our lips and hearts, and to be blessed by Him, as well.
