In my last entry, I wrote about the current war now going on…
…between Israel and the Hamas terrorists who live in the area known as Gaza. As a result of all the fighting and bombing, and the losses of many lives, and injuring many more in the course of this war, the members of my church fellowship have joined the rest of the world in praying for peace.
Our hearts are heavy for both the Jews and the Palestinians, as there are casualties on both sides. As everyone knows, war brings suffering.
But the good news is that one day, war will come to its end. In spite of what is happening today, God has a plan to bring it to an end. But this won't happen until the One known in the Scriptures as the "Prince of Peace” returns to earth and establishes His kingdom.
As the Scriptures declare concerning the Messiah, "For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this" (Isaiah 9:6-7).
The Bible tells me that the Lord is a "God of Hope” (Romans 15:13). And He is also the "God of Peace" (Romans 15:33). May we therefore look to Him in these troubled times of war and violence. He will never turn away those who seek him with a sincere heart.
