It was a perfect evening...
Last night, I went outdoors to get some fresh air. We're allowed to go to our cell block's recreation yard during evening hours, from 6 to 10 PM. So out I went. And it was just what I needed to clear my mind and refresh my soul.
The fall air was fresh, crisp, and cool. I spent the time walking, exercising, and quietly praying under a dark sky. I enjoyed the semi-solitude, too. I said "semi" because every so often I would stop to talk with some of the guys who live with me in "Charlie Block." This is the name of the housing unit I'm in, the Charlie Company cell block.
I loved spending quality time with my Creator. The hours seemed to fly. Before I knew it, ten o'clock came, and it was time to go in. Although my soul was refreshed, it was sad to leave behind a beautiful fall evening of tranquility and peacefulness.
Going back inside my living quarters was like returning to a war zone. I'm used to it, however. Finding a quiet place in prison is like finding a fresh stream of cool water in a hot, dry desert.
