I had the afternoon off from work, so I decided to go to the prison's main outdoor yard for my three-hour recreation period...

I had the afternoon off from work, so I decided to go to the prison's main outdoor yard for my three-hour recreation period...
The yard is a place where I can clear my mind, pray, socialize, and get some exercise. For a hyperactive man like me who cannot stay still for very long, it's a good place to spend an afternoon, especially with autumn in the air.
And looking past the security fences, there they were, deer. I made a quick count. There were eleven of them. They were about two hundred feet away and didn't even look my way. The deer were too busy feasting on grass and roots. They know how to survive in times of plenty, and in times of lack.
Deer are a common sight in this area. So most of the locals probably don't even pay them much attention. I've seen up to twenty-two at one time. Because I love wildlife, I definitely noticed them.
I gave thanks to God because I know these resourceful creatures were sent my way by divine direction. The Lord knew what I needed to lift my spirit.
