A friend loveth at all times, and
a brother is born for adversity.

I rarely mention specific friends in my journal...
At this time, however, I want to acknowledge my dear friend, Dan. A retired high school history teacher, Dan befriended me many years ago. He's stuck by me ever since. He recently made a lengthy car trip to come see me, even as he battles a serious health issue. Here is a portion of my letter to a good man of God: |
"It was a joy to see you last week. Thanks for coming. You looked good, and much better than
when I saw you last...
"I recall to mind all the great times we had during past visits. Also, the stories you shared about
the different ways you would share my story of redemption with fellow Christians, and with
strangers too. The reactions you'd get, both positive and negative. Thank your brother. God
used you, and He continues to do so.
"You have, in ways, been my eyes and mouthpiece. My feet, too. You've gone places that I could
not. You spoke about Jesus in my behalf. How grateful I am...
"l will always remember to lift you up in prayer before the Lord. You have been a faithful friend,
a dear brother, and a true fellow soldier. I know your reward in heaven will be great. I likewise
recall how you'd open your cozy cabin home to guests, providing them with food and rest. God
sees it all. He remembers. If you doubt what I'm saying, read Hebrews 6:10."
D. B.
P.S. Finding this tribute in my journal will, I'm sure, be a nice surprise for Dan.
