A friend loves at all times, and
a brother is born for adversity.

a brother is born for adversity.
Proverbs 17:17
I owe so much to my dear friend and spiritual brother Neil, who recently passed away at the age of 67...
He was a year younger than me, but was far more advanced in the grace and knowledge of our Lord. As a mentor, he taught me a lot about life and how to walk with Christ.
Neil and I first connected in 1993. He reached out to me after seeing me on television. We bonded immediately. He had a wife and two children, and at the time was also pastoring a church. Neil had an inner calling to help those who were broken emotionally and were coming out of bad relationships where they encounter lots of abuse. He was helpful to those who were coming out of cults, where many had been the victims of mind control.
Neil provided me with good advice. He had a listening ear and was able to relate to my struggles. He understood the demonic battles I faced. He was a faithful prayer warrior on my behalf. I could bounce things off him without experiencing shame, indifference, or criticism. He had a passion for street evangelism, too.
It was Neil who encouraged me to allow my story of redemption to go up on the Internet. It was first posted on his church's website. Eventually it would go up on other sites as well. But Neil was something of a pioneer in that he was willing to step out in faith with my testimony. He took hits for it, but online it went.
Neil was a man with a vision. In his mind, he saw my story going into cyberspace to touch and inspire people from all walks of life. And the vision has indeed come to pass. There are people throughout the world who could relate to me and believe me. This is all the Lord's doing, and Neil was the one whom God chose to get it started.
"I miss you, Neil. You were a true friend who stood alongside me in times of adversity, which were many. Even now, I know you are looking down from heaven and cheering me on. Thanks, bro!"
