Come unto Me, all of you who are carrying
heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28
I get letters from people from all walks of life...
heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28
I get letters from people from all walks of life...
As an ambassador for my Lord Jesus Christ, whom I believe to be the Messiah of the Jews and Savior to both Jews and Gentiles, I want to represent Him well.
Recently I received a letter from a man in his forties who wrote because he claims to have been diagnosed with "Schizoaffective Disorder.” He feels "ashamed" to have such a label put upon him, and he inquired if God would accept someone with a psychiatric condition.
I had to look up what Schizoaffective Disorder is. I told him that Jesus loves people and welcomes everyone to come to Him. I told him there is no perfect man or woman. We all have our sins, our weaknesses, and our problems. That Jesus knows all about us, yet He loves is, flaws and all. "His arms are always wide open," I wrote. He will not reject anyone who comes to Him in faith.
I told this troubled soul that he has nothing to be ashamed of, and how Messiah Jesus is the Great Physician. "He can fix a broken body, heal diseases, mend a broken heart, and cure and fully restore those who suffer from mental health issues," I said. I then used myself as an example of His power to not only forgive sin, but to make someone whole, as well.
I mentioned how millions of individuals have been diagnosed with one or more psychiatric conditions. That it is nothing to be embarrassed about. Nor should he feel shame or live with a sense of worthlessness or feelings of inferiority.
I encouraged him to go directly to Jesus in faith. I then ended the letter with one more Scripture: "Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need" (Hebrews 4:16).
Frankly, we are all broken vessels in need of repair. This is why we need Jesus.
