Rest in the Lord, and
wait patiently for Him...
Psalm 37:7a
I am spending the day shut-in with the Lord...
wait patiently for Him...
Psalm 37:7a
I am spending the day shut-in with the Lord...
This simply means that I am going to stay confined to my prison cell for as long as possible today. I've put aside my usual array of busy Sunday activities. While the elder brothers of my congregation, who are sound in faith and trustworthy, will oversee today's worship service in the chapel.
It is a rare thing for me to do something like this. But I know the Lord has asked this of me, to rest in Him, and to spend the day with Him alone.
God knows I need this. I have been excessively tired, and I've been like this for many weeks. So it is time for rest and recuperation of both body and soul. And for a hyperactive Type-A individual, which I am, slowing down the pace of life is a struggle.
Furthermore, I have been doing more Scripture reading now. And I have also received lots of encouragement from reading several pages at a time from The diary of David Brainerd. He was a missionary who lived in the 1700s. Brother Brainerd has been a big inspiration for me for many years. He was an avid writer as well.
