Today I wrote a letter to a friend who has a medical condition that causes him to live with a lot of pain...
I told him that he and I both face difficult and challenging circumstances in our lives, in different ways and for different reasons. My personal pain is the result of my past sins. While Christ has forgiven me, the effects of my sins and crimes remain until this day, some 35 years later. But, I said, no matter what, the mercies of the Lord are new each day.
I encouraged my friend to ponder the words of the prophet. Jeremiah as found in one of my most often read passages of the Scriptures: Lamentations 3:21-26. That whatever trying circumstances I face, because of Jesus, I have hope. And so does every man, woman and child who trusts in Him.
