Let the fields and their crops burst out with joy!
Let the trees of the forest sing for joy.

Let the trees of the forest sing for joy.
Psalm 96:12 NLT
I went to the recreation yard on this sunny but chilly Sunday afternoon to check on my two tree friends, Miss Goldie and Mister Orange...
But to my dismay they stood barren with no foliage at all. Nothing! I don't understand it. Here we are in May, and none of the trees in the field and forest which surround the prison seem to be showing any signs of life.
The weather has been erratic. In my entry for April 1st I mentioned my disappointment at seeing my friends in their naked and barren condition. But winter's over, and they're still asleep.
Neither Miss Goldie nor Mister Orange have a single green leaf on display. I stared at them with sadness as I stood behind a line of razor wire fences to include the formidable "electric shock" fence. What could I do but look at my friends and wonder when the season for them to bloom will begin? My calendar says that March 20th was to be the first official day of spring, but it was wrong.
Yet bloom and blossom they will. It will happen in time. For now, however, their sleep continues as I watch and wait.
