So if the Son of God sets you
free, you are truly free.

John 8:36
Because of my own experiences in life, to include years of having to deal with various mental health issues…
...such as suicidal impulses and self-destructive behaviors, low self-image and childhood feelings of anger toward God for bringing me into what at the time I perceived to be a world of emotional hardship, I have empathy for those who find themselves struggling with their own inner demons.
I know it is easy to fall into the mindset of shame and guilt in believing the lies that "I'm not worthy to experience anything good." Or, "I will never amount to anything." Millions suffer from these twisted and false views of themselves. I was one of them.
Today, however, through the help of Jesus Christ, I have overcome such negative thinking. The idea that I did not deserve to live, which I experienced during my childhood and adolescence, and then into early adulthood, is gone. The proverbial "death wish" that festered deep within my unconscious mind, so much so that I did not even recognize its existence until the Lord revealed it to me, kept me in a state of mental bondage.
This, however, is no longer the case. I have a new mind now, and a new life as well. What was in the past is not in the present. As the Scripture declares, "For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:7).
I thank God that today I have a healthy mind and a strong spirit. I have put my faith and hope in the Lord Jesus, and I have not been disappointed. I know, as well, that what He has done for me, He will gladly do for all who place their trust in Him.
