"Sometimes it takes a little person to bring big hope."

He placed a love, passion, and concern for youth deep within my heart. I think it was because of the emotional problems and struggles I had while I was growing up.
Throughout childhood and into adolescence, and even into early adulthood, I battled various behavioral issues. These included depression and suicidal thoughts, and self-destructive and self-sabotaging behavior patterns. I discussed all this at length in the 9-part talk I gave in 2015 which can be viewed via Ariseandshine.org.
Looking back on those formative years, I see I had a death wish. My parents didn't realize it, and neither did I, but this is what it was. However, it took decades to see and understand it, and eventually accept it.
Then, after God set me free from those years of shame and torment, and this didn't happen until adulthood, I began to realize as a forgiven individual that one of my callings in life was to bring hope to others who now struggle with the same issues as I did.
I have therefore sworn to my Creator to do all that I can to give hope to young persons, and to point them away from the things that will ultimately bring them harm, ruin, and shame. As one whom Nicky Cruz would refer to as a "little person" by society's standards, I want to see young men and women go down a better path than I did.
I see far too many young men enter these doors. Young men who should and could have made better choices in life. But now they're forced to live in little cages, some for many years. What a waste!
My prayer, "Lord, let me speak to a lost generation." He will, and He has.
