Who can find a virtuous woman?
Her worth is far above rubies.
Proverbs 31:10
Not many guys could be as blessed as me...

Proverbs 31:10

Most people have only one mother, and some, two. But I've had a total of six. And being it is officially Mother's Day, I wish to pay tribute to the six very special women who, at different times in my life, helped to raise me.
First there was Betty, the woman who brought me into the world. She loved me even before I was born and fought hard to keep me. But my birth father, Joe, whom I never met, ruled the relationship and forced her to put me up for adoption even before I was born. Looking back, I know she made the right choice.
Then there was my beloved adoptive mother, Pearl. She raised me and poured all her love and energy into me, her only child. She was the pillar of my life. Unfortunately, my adoptive mother died of cancer at the age of fifty-two. I was fourteen at the time. I was a difficult child, and she had her work as a Mom cut out for her, but my adoptive mother never gave up on me.
While next in line are my four "spiritual" mothers. Although I was now an adult and in prison when they came into my life at various times, each one of these loving ladies helped to raise me as a Christian. Each did their part, over many years, to bring me to the level of spiritual maturity I am at today.
There was Rose. She was a tenderhearted soul and a woman of great compassion. When, several decades ago, the Lord spoke to her heart and urged her to reach out to me. She did, from her home in the Midwest. Rose did whatever she could to keep me on the path. Rose was what's known as a "prayer warrior." She was very active in ministry work, as well. Rose has recently gone home to be with the Lord once her work on earth was done.
Next was Charlotte. She and her late husband Dick, who was a retired police officer, were very active in prison ministry. At some point they took me in as a son. Charlotte, too, became yet another spiritual mother. I was able to comfort her when Dick passed away. Like Rose, Charlotte also visited me on occasion.
Then there was Jane Hope. She passed away only recently at the age of 103. Like my other spiritual mothers, we'd been together for several decades. Jane Hope would share my testimony every chance she could. Over the years, she's probably passed out a thousand copies of the Son of Hope pamphlet that was published by Moments With the Book of Bedford, Pennsylvania.
And finally there is Faye. She's 91 years old and remains in regular contact with me. Always spry and energetic, Faye loves the Lord, her family, and me.
All told, I am truly a blessed man. Six mothers. That's a lot of love.
