Yesterday afternoon, I was called by the facility's Catholic chaplain to assist his clerk with cleaning the chapel…
We Protestants (I'm really a Jew who believes in Jesus) share the same work area.
Each chaplain has his own office, as well as his own assigned clerk, but each of the clerks work in a foyer area where we have our desks and lockers for supplies and paperwork. So the Catholic clerk and I have to share the same area.
We get along very well. We also help each other with cleaning the offices and the main sanctuary. And sometimes we'd have a few other men volunteer to assist us with the bigger cleaning projects.
So yesterday he and I, and another prisoner, cleaned up both offices, the foyer area, and the main sanctuary. We disinfected everything we could, including the staff's restroom. It felt good to be back to work, even though I stay busy on my own with answering correspondence and writing my journal.
With the Covid-19 situation, our chapel has been something akin to a ghost town. The lights were off much of the time, the building closed. But now the chapel is slowly coming back to life. Very soon, God willing, Bible studies will resume, and eventually our worship services, as well.
