The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has

He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted...

Interesting wording. He had come, He said in part, to heal those with broken hearts.
All of us carry pains and griefs of different kinds, and we have the scars to prove it. But such scars and bruises are the ones that occur within each of us. They can only be seen through the eyes of a loving God.
Perhaps this is why Jesus emphasized the fact that He had come to heal the brokenhearted? Clearly, I believe, He was not referring to a heart being broken over a failed romance. Rather, it's a heart that has been shattered by a terrible loss, such as the death of a loved one, or even the abusive mistreatment at the hands of another, be it physical, verbal, or emotional abuse. Surely it is something that has left a soul with deep inner wounds, and horrific levels of emotional pain.
My guess is that there are probably ten times the amount of people in this world who are living with broken hearts, as opposed to those living with broken bones.
