This is a challenge, of course, as it is never easy for the flesh to relinquish its control. And looking at the Lord Jesus Himself, shortly before His crucifixion, knowing of the exceedingly painful death which awaited Him, as He prayed to His Father in the garden of Gethsemane, and said, "Father, into Thy hands I commit my spirit" (Luke 23:46 RSV), could I honestly say the same thing, and mean it? I asked this question to myself today.
For it is easy to declare, "Lord, I trust you." But it is far more difficult to truly trust God with all my heart. Why? Because the human side of me with its doubts and fears is oftentimes quick to rise up in my mind.
Looking at my own life, even after twenty-five years as a Christian, I know I need to trust the Lord more, and to commit more of myself to Him, as well. It's a daily challenge, but little by little I'm getting there.
