Thus far it has been a busy week with all kinds of matters to attend to, both big and small...
I have to prepare a message to share with the church for this coming Mother's Day. And unless the Lord directs me otherwise, I plan to preach from the first chapter of the book on the life of Ruth's mother-in-law, Naomi. My title, "A Mother's Grief." For within a relatively short period of time, poor Naomi lost her husband and two grown sons to death. Bitterness had begun to poison her soul and she had lost hope. But, God had a plan and Naomi's best days were still ahead.
Otherwise, I have been doing well. I continue to experience bouts of tiredness. Earlier today, I ended up taking two naps.
I did, however, finish a letter to a friend who lost his nineteen-year-old stepson to gang related gun violence. He wrote to thank me for encouraging him during a difficult time, and I responded back today. We Christians are not at all exempt from suffering in all kinds of ways, to include the deaths of loved ones. But we have a wonderful comforter, and His name is the Holy Spirit. Amen!
