As I continue to watch the war in Ukraine unfold, and as I see the magnitude of its destruction, I cannot help but think of the book of Revelation. While the future time of the "Great Tribulation" is yet to come, even now the world may be getting a glimpse and foretaste of our future.
The names Abaddon and Apollyon mean destruction and destroyer. And what better way to destroy than by war and all that usually follows in its wake. These being fear, famine, pestilence, and lawlessness.
As I wrote previously, I believe this present conflict to be a demonically driven and energized event, and I see no reason to think differently. Putin, as evil as he may be, is merely a puppet in the hands of a spiritual power he is unaware of.
Men destitute of true faith and a correct knowledge of the Scriptures are easy prey for the devil. They have no concept of the forces which seek to own and control them. Perhaps this is why the Bible says, "Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil" (Ephesians 6:11). While the following verse states, "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, (and) against spiritual wickedness in high places" (Ephesians6:12).
Sadly, the media will never speak on these things, because they do not understand these things. How that in some instances there is a satanic element at work behind the scenes. Not just in times of war, but also in heinous events like mass suicides, serial murders and crimes of an especially horrific nature, and even in occurrences where there is racial hatred and anti-Semitism.
Perhaps because of mankind's overall ignorance of God's Word, we miss the reality that Satan is hiding in plain sight. Maybe we need to do what Jesus Himself told the people of His day to do, "Search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life, and they will testify of Me" (John 5:39).
