The Lord knows the future...
But I do not. Right now, the big rumor that's going around the prison is that we will be placed on "lockdown" status very soon. If it happens, it will be a precautionary measure to keep both the staff and inmates from contracting the Coronavirus.
Prisoners hate lockdowns. Everything comes to a halt. We're confined to our cells, perhaps for days, or even for weeks. Most work assignments and all school and vocational classes will get closed, visits have already stopped, and other restrictions could be put in place, too, depending on whatever the facility's administrative staff decides.
For now, it remains to be seen what will happen. Whether this is only a rumor, or not. As it is, correctional facilities are known for being "rumor mills." Rumors get manufactured and circulated at record speed. Most of them being just that - rumors.
It's true. Rumors, a majority which turn out to be false, fly around in here with astonishing speed. We'd often joke that rumors go back and forth with such speed that not even the most advanced computer system could beat the speed in which gossip travels within the prison.
