And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily,
as to the Lord, and not unto men.
Colossians 3:23
I’ve been doing clerical work for my chaplain since November of last year...
as to the Lord, and not unto men.
Colossians 3:23
I’ve been doing clerical work for my chaplain since November of last year...
My job includes a host of other related duties and tasks, as well.
In addition to the required paperwork and keeping the files organized, I have to make appointments for those who want to meet with the chaplain for counseling, or for other personal reasons. And every month I have to order supplies from outside vendors for such things as Communion cups and wafers for our congregation’s monthly gathering to celebrate the Lord’s Supper.
I also have to routinely order supplies from the facility’s storehouse for items such as soap and toilet paper. Yes, every office and place of worship needs toilet paper. We never want to be without it.
Altogether, I think I’m becoming more efficient at my job as time goes on. My pastor has told me a number of times already how pleased he is with my performance. But the truth is that I am really working for the Lord, and not just for the prison’s staff and inmates. For me, working in the chapel is a ministry, and a calling from the Lord. I couldn’t do it without Him.
