I shudder to think how close I’d come to dying. Altogether, I underwent three hospitalizations from December 2017 until the end of March the following year, all due to related problems. Today, however, I am doing fine.
Looking back over those past events, I can see how the Lord was with me. His hands of grace were upholding me. As King David declared in the Twenty-Third Psalm, “The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want” (Psalm 23:1). And with his pen he went on to say, “Yes, though I walk through the
valley of the shadow of death, I will not fear evil because you are with me, and your rod and staff, they comfort me” (Psalm 23:4).
Truly, I have much to be thankful for. The nurses who cared for me were like angels. They were very professional, compassionate, and kind. They didn’t pass judgment upon me for being a convicted felon. Instead, they saw me as a human being, and not as a prisoner with a number.
With this, I will end my journal for the month of March by saying, the mercies of God are everlasting. His goodness and grace knows no bounds.
