Some women possess outer beauty, while others, inner beauty...
...and some have both. Queen Esther had both. The Old Testament book of Esther is one of my favorites. With the Jewish holiday known as Purim now upon me, I like to again read the story of Esther.
In Esther, one can see the hand of God as He placed various individuals into position so as to pave the way for a great deliverance of the Jews. At the time, the Jewish race was slated for extermination by the powers that be. The devil, of course, had his plan for death and destruction., but an all-knowing God had His plan, too.
During Purim, which is celebrated by Jews throughout the world, the bold and daring work of Queen Esther is recognized and acknowledged. Her wisdom and beauty helped to avert the annihilation of hundreds of thousands.
Esther reminds me that while I cannot see God with my own eyes, He is always at work. In addition, I’m reminded of the eternal truth that what men mean for evil, the Lord will ultimately turn it around for the good, and to the saving of many souls.
