Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen
your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord.
Psalm 31:24
Earlier today I was sharing with a friend how the word “courage” comes from the word encouragement, and the word courageous likewise has its roots from it, too...

While this is obvious, the Lord has given me a deeper understanding about the importance and the power behind the word. How that we who are the disciples of Christ, when we seek to encourage one another, we’re actually helping them, and even ourselves, build the inner courage needed to continue fighting the good fight of faith.
This is important because it is very easy for the child of God to slip into a state of discouragement. I know this from years of experience having myself battled the spirit of discouragement, and at times even allowing it to get the best of me.
The reality is that the Christian must stand against a deadly foe. The Devil doesn’t play games. Like a wolf and a roaring lion, he seeks to kill us. And while we have the victory in Christ and the Word of God at our disposal, Satan and his demons will still put up one hell of a fight.
Therefore, we must continue to encourage one another as best we can. And we need God’s courage to continue the journey. I believe we encourage ourselves, as well, when we encourage our brethren.
