I am writing this entry to hopefully clear up any misinformation as well as put an end to the false and exaggerated story concerning my connection to the late Jimmy Breslin, a former columnist and reporter who once worked for the New York Daily News...
Mister Breslin recently passed away.
Almost forty years ago, a letter was sent to Mr. Breslin, who was at the time covering the so-called Son of Sam shooting spree in 1976-77 in New York City. I do not recall the exact circumstances as to why Mr. Breslin was sent a letter in the first place, nor what its contents were. However, after his death a few weeks ago news stories reporting on his passing were stating incorrectly that he and I were pen pals, and that I was a fan of his and had some kind of fascination with him.
Leave it to the media to stretch things. Over the years, I had almost completely forgotten about Mr. Breslin. I barely remember him and do not recall any of his articles. While I extend my condolences to his family, I also wish to add that I do not have any interest or fascination with Mr. Breslin. In fact, I have little recollection of him other than knowing his name. This is all.
