It never ceases to amaze as well as humble me whenever I see men from many different backgrounds coming together and working side by side to serve the Lord...
The Christian faith will do this. People from all walks of life join together as a spiritual family.
And it's not any different for those who are incarcerated. In fact, this very morning I saw the reality of this divine unity, because as is our weekly custom, eight of my fellow prisoners who are part of our fellowship arrived about ninety minutes before the service was to begin. We joined hands to pray, laying aside our differences, in order to seek guidance and wisdom.
We also do the manual labor of assembling our sound system along with setting out chairs for upwards of fifty men who will be coming to the day's service. We place Bibles on a table near the front entrance for those who want one, and so much more.
Most of all, we try to stay "prayed up," as it is so often called by many Christians, as we eagerly await what the Lord has to say to the church at Sullivan Correctional Facility.
