The Ultimate Evil. I wish more people knew about this book...
It was first written more than thirty years ago by investigative reporter Maury Terry. Later, however, after it went out of print, it was updated and re-published by Barnes & Noble Booksellers in 2000.
While I do not necessarily agree with every part of it, overall Mr. Terry has done a painstakingly remarkable job of bringing to light the deep and dark occultic aspects of the so-called "Son of Sam case." The result: the exposure of a then in existence group known as the Process Church of Final Judgment. Perhaps the name of this cult will speak for itself. Under the guise of being a "radical psychotherapy group," under the leadership of its founders, Robert and Mary Ann DeGrimston (a name they both took on after marriage), Mr. DeGrimston would spend a lot of time channeling a spirit being which supposedly spoke through him. He published these messages into print as well. |
And the primary message, which overshadowed all others, was the need for the fiery destruction of planet earth, and the need to find ways to unleash Armageddon (earth's final war) so as to eventually bring about world peace, because, according to DeGrimston and his spirit guide, Satan and Jesus, two arch rivals, were at this time finally going to shake hands and make peace between themselves, thus ending thousands of years of conflict. A utopian dream, for sure, and unbiblical, too.
Nevertheless, DeGrimston believed this. He got many of his ideas from the New Testament's book of Revelation, a favorite among many occultists. Every single one of them, in my opinion, the victim of strong demonic delusions. Demons, swift to deceive people by getting them to misuse and incorrectly interpret the Scriptures, thereby drawing them deeper into bondage, and ultimately destroying them, forever.
I know what I'm talking about. For I too was a disciple of both DeGrimston's writings and the Devil.
DeGrimston preached Apocalypse now. His inner demon, declaring that doing acts of violence was not bad. It was necessary, and in the long run it was actually good. Because I was really helping to bring about the final conflagration of the ages. It made so much sense back then. The perfect excuse to kill, and to make it as easy as possible for a brainwashed satanist to take innocent lives. A sacrifice for Satan along with helping to create the chaos that was needed to cause society to crumble that much faster, thus bringing about the day of God's wrath, followed by world peace and the end of crime and violence. Simple logic for the deluded soul I was.
The Process people (known as Processeans) were made to believe this, or at least they were supposed to. That Lucifer had to first destroy all governmental systems before Jesus could come to save the day and rebuild the planet into the paradise it once was before the fall.
As DeGrimston thundered in his manifesto, "Set fire to everything. Kill! Destroy all life forms. This is what God wants." It was only by the grace of God that I survived such madness.
Fortunately, in a strange way, it took getting arrested and being sent to prison which helped to break the powerful hold both the Process and the Devil had on me, although it still took years. Because even when I first came to prison, I was still a dedicated soldier to Satan. Such a level of demonic bondage does not necessarily disappear overnight. But, God had a plan for me, and it is still unfolding.
Like the psalmist says in the fortieth psalm, "Lord, you heard my cry, and you rescued me from a horrible pit" (Psalm 40:1-3). Thank God, I've been both redeemed and rescued.
D.B.
Note: It's been more than ten years since I last saw Maury Terry's book. I read through the updated version quickly, as it was too painful to read and absorb. In fact, I hardly remember much about it. But it is, in my opinion, the best and most, important work on the Son of Sam case written thus far.
