Holding On

I was able to get off work an hour early this afternoon, which was good... 

The extra time afforded me the opportunity to write this entry in my journal.

Earlier today, I had been reflecting on the goodness and mercy of the Lord and how I should always rejoice in my God. For He has always shown himself to be faithful, even as I face the daily troubles and challenges of prison life, plus all the spiritual warfare that goes along with being a disciple of Jesus.

And during my quiet time this morning, I was reminded by the Holy Spirit that whenever I feel discouraged, to try and remember where the Lord has brought me from. How I have been delivered from the awful darkness I had once been in, and brought to His marvelous light. Also, to think what my life would be like right now if I had never placed my faith in Christ, never knowing Him as I do today.

Even after thirty-five years of imprisonment, where other men would be bitter, angry and full of fury, I am happy in Christ and content. I am living with hope and the peace of God. This alone is of great worth.
