Thus far, this winter has been an average one for Sullivan County...
Being in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains, my area is known for having bad blizzards and Snowstorms, and there has been several major blizzards and snowstorms that hit the East Coast as well as other parts of New York State.
But, surprisingly, the county I reside in was bypassed. All we got was several fairly large snow events, but these were normal for this area. And now winter's almost finished. Soon I'll be seeing the first signs of spring.
I could tell that spring is on the way, too. There's more daylight now. But more than this, the flocks of common birds, which thrive within the boundaries of the prison, are abuzz with excitement. I could hear it in their rapid-fire chirps, tweets and whistles. Listening to the sparrows, it is obvious that something is up. Spring is on its way, and they want everyone to know it.
