A friend whom I correspond with asked me if I face temptations here in prison the way he said he does on the outside...

A friend whom I correspond with asked me if I face temptations here in prison the way he said he does on the outside...
I told him there's no difference, except location. Whatever temptations await me each day in here, are probably very similar to what my friend has to face on the other side of these walls.
I live in a den of wickedness. While he sees sin and evil in society, in prison I believe these things become magnified. From morning till evening there is cursing, yelling and all kinds of negative speech. I've no home to go to where I can shut the door and close off what is offensive to the eye.
But my help to overcome temptation, even the temptations which sometimes come from my own heart, comes from the Lord. God is an ever-present help during these times. His word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path (Psalm 119:105). As the Scripture says, "Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world" (1 John 4:4).
