Our scheduled team of volunteer ministers did not show up this morning...
This particular group comes from Queens County, a borough within New York City. It's usually a two and a half hour drive for them one way. So maybe they had car trouble? In any event, the service had to go on. But this Sunday it was Philip's turn to preach, as I gave a message last weekend.
However, before Philip was to step behind the pulpit to deliver his sermon, I was permitted to share a ten to twelve minute exhortation. My short message was about handling life's problems wisely.
I concluded my talk by reading to the congregation something I'd written this morning before church. The men responded well to it, and I am going to share it now:
As Christians, we need the boldness of
the apostle Paul, the wisdom of Joseph,
the courage of Kind David, the strength
of Moses, and the humility of the Lord
Jesus Christ himself.
