He brought me up also out of a horrible
pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet
upon a rock, and established my goings.

So after the opening prayer was said, and the choir sang their selection of songs, I got to speak to the congregation for approximately fifteen minutes. I read Psalm 40:1-3 out loud, and then began to explain how this particular passage seems to capture the story of my life perfectly. How at one time I was sinking deep in sin, and into a state of demonic madness before being rescued by the Lord.
I went on to give the definition of what reclaimed means. How that, according to Webster's dictionary, it means to call back, to obtain from trash or waste products, and to turn from error or evil. I went on to tell the men how Jesus Christ came on the scene to rescue and redeem me, as well as reclaim me from destruction. And I believe the guys were able to relate because their lives were once in the same miserable condition.
I then mentioned how all of us were under Satan's control at one time. That we were incapable of defeating our corrupt sin nature, too. But when Christ entered our lives at the time of salvation, these chains were broken. He set us free from the power of sin, Satan, and death, while at the same time making us new creations in Him (2 Corinthians 5:17). This was the gist of my talk.
