Today, the Saints Prison Ministry brought their softball team into the facility to play against the inmates...
The Saints are something of a semi-pro team, made up of volunteers, who visit correctional facilities throughout New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, to engage the prisoners in a friendly game of softball, while sharing with them their own personal stories of how each member of the team came to faith in Jesus Christ. I always look forward to seeing them every summer.
Of course, our team didn't stand a chance of winning as the Saints are really good, almost professional. But it was all about having fun, showing good sportsmanship, and sharing the gospel with those who are incarcerated. They don't get paid for this, nor for their travels. Interestingly, the Saints also have a women's team too. The ladies go into the prisons where female offenders are housed to play them in volleyball. I cannot wait for next year to see them again, Lord willing.
