Those who are familiar with my journal know something of the love I have for the First Nations peoples and tribes of Canada...
I find it both fascinating and intriguing how many of my Indian brothers and sisters live on remote and isolated reserves (reservations) that can only be reached by plane or boat.
It amazes me how these hearty people live hundreds of kilometers from what we refer to as modern civilization. And while it may seem adventurous living far from other towns and roads, I am also aware of the many problems plaguing these communities: poverty and high rates of unemployment, alcoholism and drug abuse, feelings of despair and higher than average rates of suicide, especially among the youth, to name a handful.
Therefore I want to continue to pray for my Native brethren, for their tribes and bands, many whose names I cannot even pronounce. I have been especially praying for those living on the Shamattawa and Little Grand Rapids First Nations reserves, both of which are located in the Canadian province of Manitoba.
And may I ask those who read this to please join me in prayer for these precious souls whom the Lord Jesus died for, and whom the Creator loves. Thank you!
