Grandpa Dave

As another month comes to an end, I am happy to report that our weekly Bible studies and worship services are going well. In recent weeks we've had several new men join our ranks...

Two of them were the result of coming to Christ for salvation, while two other men who were already Christians arrived here on a transfer from another facility.

But for me one of my greatest joys is seeing all the members of our congregation maturing in their faith and growing in the grace and knowledge of the Lord. Some have even led their families to Christ, too. And I am so very proud of them.

I'm 57 years old, while most of the congregation is much younger with many of them in their twenties or thirties. So in a way I've become something of a grandfather figure for them. And as funny as it may sound, some of them even address me "Grandpa Dave."

I don't mind at all. Because of my age, and because I've been a Christian for almost twenty-five years, I really have become one of the patriarchs of the church. And like any proud grandpa, my joy and pleasure is derived in part by watching these men develop into devout men of God.
