Luke 19:10 NLT
As I have often said, the Lord Jesus is always at work in jails and prisons because that's where "sinners" and criminal offenders are…
After all, in his own words, Messiah Jesus said that He had come to search for lost souls. He's looking to heal, restore and forgive those whose lives have been damaged by sin, and by their own unwise choices.
Christ came not to condemn criminals, but to save them, provided they are willing to repent and turn from their criminal ways and place their faith in Him. In John's gospel account, for example, the Lord explicitly declared, "For God sent His Son into the world not to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved" (John 3:17 KJV).
So with this said, I'm glad Jesus found me. I was a lost soul if there ever was one. I was one of Satan's top
soldiers. I regret this, of course. But that's the truth, and there is no way to take back the past. I must live with the consequences of my actions.
If not for Jesus, I probably would have eventually taken my life. And if I did, I'd have died a lonely, guilt-ridden man who thought he had no hope. But at the right time, the Lord came to my rescue. He lifted me out of the pit of depression I'd been living in. He forgave all my sins and put me into a state of good mental health.
And as I approach what is now going to be my 46th year of imprisonment, I can testify with full confidence that I have tasted the goodness of God. His mercy endures forever.
