"I will even make a way in the wilderness,
and rivers in the desert."
Isaiah 43:19(b)
God has been good to me...
and rivers in the desert."
Isaiah 43:19(b)
God has been good to me...
He has kept me healthy and safe, and reasonably strong for a man who is sixty-nine years old. As I approach my forty-fourth year of incarceration, I continue by the grace of my God to live out my faith. Although I still at times fall short and "miss the mark," as the popular saying goes, the Lord has been merciful to pick me up, clean me off, and to once more set my feet on the right path (1 John 1:9).
I am thankful, as well, for the many friends who have helped me to grow in my faith, and who keep me in their prayers. I likewise try to do the same for them.
In addition, I continue to write my journal, which I hope is a source of encouragement for many people from all walks of life. I am thankful to have this platform where I can show both those in the churches and in the general public what God is doing behind prison walls, and in the lives of those who are incarcerated.
In spite of all the negativity jails and prisons receive, there are many positive things happening in these places. Men and women are turning away from lives of crime. They are learning to make better choices, and ways to overcome their addictions.
While within myself I have come to recognize the harm I brought to many families including my own by the crimes I committed.
But prison can be something of a desert, too. Some give up hope. Because of Christ's intervention, I have not only survived incarceration, but flourished in spite of it. For me and many others, God has made rivers for the spiritually thirsty to drink from.
