Boast not thyself of tomorrow; for you do
not know what the day may bring forth.
Proverbs 27:1
We all wish we could know the future…
not know what the day may bring forth.
Proverbs 27:1
We all wish we could know the future…
What it holds in store for us, and for our loved ones. But the reality is that we cannot know it. We could have an idea of what the future may hold. Yet, there is far too much uncertainty in life to make any kind of foolproof predictions.
I think this has become more clear during the current pandemic. The Coronavirus seems to have shown up suddenly to a medical community who was caught off guard by its appearance, and for the governments of this world who were just as unprepared for it.
Now, within six to seven months since its appearing, the virus has placed itself in just about every nation. And because of its indiscriminating nature, no one is completely safe from it. Rich or poor. Black, white or Asian. Gentile and Jew. Protestant, Catholic, Buddhist or Muslim. It has become a worldwide pandemic.
However, one observable aspect to this disastrous event is that many people from all walks of life are awakening to the reality that life is fragile. That there is no guarantee for someone to live a long life, no matter how much he or she tries to live a healthy lifestyle.
Now the Coronavirus has become one more of the many uncertainties of life. It has caused us to think of our own mortality. To contemplate the prospect of eternity, and if I should die, would I go to heaven or hell? What happens after I die?
The holy Bible declares that, "It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment" (Hebrews 9:27). So with the prospect of one's eventual demise a certainty, my questions are, if there is an eternity, where will you spend it (click here to learn more)? And have you trusted in Jesus as the Savior of your soul?
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have the gift of everlasting life" (John 3:16).
