I was glad to go outdoors yesterday afternoon...
I stepped out into a blazing sun armed with a baseball cap and a body slathered with sunscreen. The temperature was in the low nineties, but I'm sure the heat index made it feel hotter.
I walked at a brisk pace for a little more than forty minutes. I could have continued, but I didn't want to overdo it. Besides, there are no trees to hide under to escape those killer rays. So I had to deal with the unrelenting heat and the burning sun as best I could. And I did pretty good. No problems. Just a lot of sweat.
Once a man decides to go to the recreation yard in the afternoon, he will have to stay outside for close to three hours. There's no going in early.
After my walk, I found a few friends to hang out with. One of them, Mickey, spent a considerable amount of time, I thought, scolding and lecturing me for forgetting to bring my water bottle with me when I left my housing area. He was right. Mickey is a guy who offers advice to anyone who'd take it. I promised him I would not forget it next time. Leave it to Mickey to keep old Dave from getting heat stroke. What would I do without him?
